Biotin Solgar is a vitamin also called vitamin H or vitamin B 7. It belongs to the B vitamins. Biotin is found in foods such as: meat, sea fish, cooked egg yolks, milk, poultry meat, legumes, whole grains and brewer's yeast. Frozen or cooked foods may have reduced biotin content, but steamed foods tend to retain more biotin. Biotin is involved in energy production. It converts food into energy by converting fats and carbohydrates into glucose and breaking down proteins into amino acids. Increased levels of biotin lower blood sugar levels and vice versa. With a deficiency of biotin in the body, hair falls out, nails break, skin is irritated, fungus appears, eczema, etc. This is especially common in infants: seborrheic dermatitis, dry, scaly skin on the head. With a deficiency of biotin, there can be: depression, insomnia, anemia, high blood sugar, muscle pain, inflammation of the skin and mucous membranes, loss of appetite, nausea and ulcers on the tongue. It is very important to have a sufficient level of biotin in the body.
