Trimethylglycine is an important methyl donor (aka betaine anhydrous). A methyl donor, like TMG and folate, is needed to convert homocysteine (a toxic amino acid that poses a serious health risk) back into methionine, as well as for the accurate synthesis of DNA and RNA, which is necessary for the production of normal cells. The real value of betaine lies in its ability to generously donate methyl, which it has due to the presence of a third methyl group. Through this chemical reaction, betaine neutralizes homocysteine, converting it into the amino acid methionine. This process has also been associated with protective properties against cancer, as evidenced by some animal studies, as well as against liver disease and changes caused by aging. You can find this and many other supplements on the Biotus website. Experienced consultants will be able to select a product that is right for you.
