Ingredients and their properties
Cetylpyridinium chloride:interacts with the membranes of bacteria in the oral cavity. This results in a reduction in the number of microorganisms involved in the formation of plaque and odor.
Sodium bicarbonate (baking soda): participates in regulating the acidity of the environment. Due to this, the surface of the teeth retains a feeling of cleanliness longer.
Tetrasodium pyrophosphate: binds minerals that are included in the formation of hard deposits. This is important for controlling their accumulation on the enamel.
Lysozyme: an enzyme that destroys the cell walls of individual bacteria. Its presence is associated with the maintenance of oral hygiene.
Proteases: break down protein food residues. This reduces the volume of the substrate on which soft plaque forms.
Thymol: a natural component with a distinct aroma. Helps promote fresher breath.
Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract: contains plant compounds that are involved in antioxidant protection processes in the oral cavity. This is reflected in the overall condition of the mucous membrane.
Zinc Gluconate: interacts with sulfur compounds associated with unpleasant odor. Due to this, breath becomes less harsh.

In scientific studies, oral hygiene products for dogs are considered as part of regular home care aimed at controlling plaque, breath odor, and plaque mineralization processes. For this purpose, antiseptic substances (for example, cetylpyridinium chloride) and pyrophosphate compounds that interact with calcium ions on the tooth surface are studied. In such publications, the emphasis is usually on changes in plaque/deposit indicators and odor parameters with a course of use.
Studies:
- The effect of cetylpyridinium chloride on breath odor indicators and periodontal health parameters in dogs: The article describes the use of a spray and gel with cetylpyridinium chloride in dogs for three weeks. The authors report differences in plaque and calculus scales, as well as odor assessments, across the oral hygiene regimen. The study emphasizes that this refers to hygiene indicators during a course of treatment.
Source: Journal of Veterinary Science. - The Effect of Crystal Formation Inhibitors on Tartar Formation in Dogs: The publication examines pyrophosphates as substances that bind calcium and can alter the mineralization conditions of plaque, which transforms into hard deposits. A study using a canine diet discusses that the severity of changes depends on the method of administration and dosage, and the conclusions are tied to a clinical assessment of dental calculus. These data are often used to support the role of pyrophosphates in dental care.

Expert Opinion
- Brooke Nimitz (country of birth: USA, Veterinary Dental Specialties: emphasizes in her professional materials that plaque control remains the foundation of a home dental routine, while additional products—sprays, gels, and rinses—are considered supplementary, especially when mechanical cleaning is difficult. She also notes that signs of discomfort in animals may not be obvious, so hygiene habits and regular examinations by a veterinarian are important.
