L-glutamine is involved in the division of blood cells (erythrocytes, lymphocytes, fibroblasts), the delivery of nitrogen to cells,  control of the acid-base balance of the blood. Glutamine protects the intestinal mucosa from the effects of various toxic components that enter the body (during chemotherapy).
