4th Generation Folic Acid is a water-soluble vitamin. Foods that are high in folic acid are leafy vegetables (spinach, broccoli, lettuce), fruits (bananas, melons, lemons), asparagus, beans, yeast, mushrooms, meats (beef liver and kidneys), orange and tomato juices.
Folic acid is also used for other conditions commonly associated with folic acid deficiency, including ulcerative colitis, liver disease, alcoholism, and kidney dialysis. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should take folic acid to prevent miscarriage and neural tube defects in the fetus. Some people use folic acid to prevent colon or cervical cancer.
